Practical Proposal Argument
Feeling stressed you pull quickly into the parking lot. Knowing you are already late for your ten o’clock class you realize you have to find a parking spot quick. Preferably something close to cut down on walking time. Frantically your eyes search up and down the rows of already parked cars in hope of finding that lone spot someone possibly overlooked. Noticing that there are no options available upfront you start to make your way toward the back of the parking lot. Striking out there as well you head to another lot, one that you don’t think has reached capacity yet. Unfortunately it has, you are stuck now with no place to park and a class that you are already late for. University of Houston parking has struck again. The way that this situation ends most of the time is with students circling the parking lot waiting for someone to leave so that they can claim their spot. Being a commuter as are most students are at the University of Houston I have problems finding available parking spots. It makes getting to class on time a difficult task, and for some students not worth the trouble of finding a parking spot. To fix the parking here at the university new parking garages can be added, more transportation from the parking lots on the outskirts of campus, as well as more parking lots with more capacity.
The University of Houston is inside the 610 loop and right next to downtown Houston. Being in an already crowded place I understand that there is limited room for the university. This makes it hard to spend that valuable room on parking structures. There are also measures already being put into place in order to help solve this parking problem, such as the new parking garage located near Cullen Lofts. This is something that is a movement in the right direction but not nearly what needs to be done in order to completely fix this problem. The problem with the parking system at the University of Houston is fairly simple. There are too many commuter students compared to the number of parking spots available on campus.
